Punjab attained pinnacle of glory in the field of agriculture because of Green Revolution. The state has reached almost the state of optimum production. For its further economic growth, the only answer is excellence in Technical Education. The state has witnessed unprecedented quantitative expansion of higher technical education but qualitative aspect has not been cared for. It is because of this shortcoming that DAV College Managing Committee decided to play its role by establishing an Institute of Engineering & Technology ,which like the earlier 680 institutions ,should impart quality education. The institution would ensure that excellent floor level training is given to the students so that when they go out in the market, they are received by the industry with open arms.

There is no denying the fact that quality Technical Education is the only answer to the problem ofi industrial development in the wake of globalization. DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology is making a significant contribution in this regard. The Institute is located at Jalandhar which has been a seat of learning & a hub of cultural activities. It is a town which is earning distinction in the field of information technology, leather & rubber goods, sports goods & hand-tools and the new institute is likely to serve as a handmaid to these industries.

After tremendous consistent efforts, DAV College Managing Committee has succeeded in its efforts to set up the DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology at Jalandhar. We have been living in an era of rapid modernization & globalization. We cannot lose sight of this fact and while conceiving the present institution, the DAV Management has pledged that this institute will not lack in any modern facilities in the field of Engineering. It is said that well begun is half done. The foundation stone of the institute was laid by Padamshree G.P. Chopra ,President, who has been rendering yeoman's service in the cause of education and is an administrator par excellence. I hope with his blessings, the institute will speedily move towards achieving its targets and goals.

Yet another milestone is achieved in the field of technical education by the DAV College Managing Committee with the opening of its first ever Engineering College. Keeping in view the technological developments, it seemed as if Punjab is in dearth of quality Technical Institutes and Research & Development (R&D) Centres. DAV College Managing Committee has endeavored to start this Institute with a vision to develop high Technology. R&D Centre which will cater to the requirements of budding engineers to ensue their research work in emerging areas in Electronics, Telecommunication & Information Technology. The Institute also plans to attain the status of deemed university within a period of five years. The Institute will produce quality trained professionals in the field of Electronics & Computer Science without losing sight of Indian moral and ethical values in a value based environment. Unfortunately in this materialistic world this very thing is getting ignored. The DAV Spirit will be a part & parcel of our products. May God bless the Institute so that it may spread the light of trust and knowledge in years to come.
